Yes. ZhuiZhui's map is a complete offline terrain map downloaded to your phone, not an online tile map that depends on the internet. Before you go, download Taiwan's LuMap or overseas map data in "Map Management" — with zero signal in the mountains you can still locate, zoom and search routes. Note: live hiking location sharing and group features need internet to upload location; offline, they queue on your phone and auto-upload once signal returns.

The full Taiwan LuMap is about 298MB, with a lightweight ~168MB version also available; overseas region data varies by country/region size, and ZhuiZhui shows the file size before you download so you can decide. Maps and the trail POI database can be deleted anytime on the "Map Management" page to free up space.

The peak list is based mainly on the 1971 list selected by Lin Wen-an and others, with elevation and coordinates individually cross-checked and corrected to avoid mislabeling places with similar names. That said, mountain conditions change and data can't update in real time — it's for route-planning reference only, so please assess risk yourself and prepare a proper hiking plan.

On the settings page, enter a group name under "Group Hiking" — if the name doesn't exist yet, it creates a new group; if it does, you join that group. Group members can then see each other's live location on the map, and multi-day traverses automatically stitch together each member's route by time.

Just turn on "Live share hiking location" on the settings page and send the personal link the system generates to your contact. They don't need to install ZhuiZhui or sign up — opening the link shows your current location and route, and if needed can give rescue services the most recent last-known-location reference, matching what a typical hiking trip plan requires of a safety contact.

No. ZhuiZhui is a regular phone app, not a satellite communicator like Garmin inReach with its own independent satellite signal — live location sharing needs your phone to have mobile network signal to upload coordinates to the cloud. In sections with no signal at all, your contact sees the last position before signal was lost; ZhuiZhui stores the data on your phone first and auto-uploads the latest coordinates once signal returns, but it isn't truly real-time. Please don't skip traditional safety measures like a written trip plan and a scheduled check-in time because of this.

The shared link only shows your hike record from when you turned on "Live share hiking location" onward, and only hike mode supports this feature. Anyone with the link can view it, so only give it to family and friends you trust; turning off sharing or changing your account name immediately invalidates any old links already shared.

Live-shared coordinate records in the cloud are kept for 90 days only and are automatically cleared afterward; your on-device hike/run records are entirely unaffected and can be kept permanently. You can also delete your account anytime on the settings page.

ZhuiZhui is currently Android-only, free to download on Google Play, with a minimum requirement of Android 8.0. There's no timeline yet for an iOS version.

Yes. On the "Activity Management" page you can import GPX, KML or KMZ track files — once imported they show in your activity list just like a track you recorded yourself, and can be overlaid on the map for comparison. Routes recorded in ZhuiZhui can likewise be exported as standard GPX files for use in other tools.

ZhuiZhui is optimized for battery efficiency — for example, GPS sampling frequency automatically slows down when you're stationary, and map browsing uses lower-frequency location updates. Multi-day hikes shouldn't be too much of a concern, though for long recording sessions we still recommend carrying a power bank.

ZhuiZhui is free to download and use on Google Play — offline maps, run/hike tracking, group live sharing and other core features require no extra payment.
